Sunday, October 11 - Washington, DC - Vets for Afghanistan Meet & Greet at Clyde's of Georgetown.  We teamed up with American Women Veterans for a great evening of food, drink, and really interesting conversation.  We'll meet again in DC!

Thursday, August 13 - Brooklyn, New York Members and guests met at the Henry Street Ale House in Brooklyn Heights to talk and plan the next AFGHANISTAN STORIES event.  We were glad to see some new faces, have some great conversations, and enjoy a great local pub!

June 26, 2009 - New York, New York - Members and guests met at the Grace Rainey Rogers Auditorium at the Metropolitan Museum of Art for a special presentation celebrating the opening of the stunning exhibition, "Afghanistan: Hidden Treasures of the National Museum, Kabul."

June 21, 2009 - New York, New York - Members and guests met at a public screening of "Afghan Star," the acclaimed documentary that highlights the glory and struggle of aspiring Afghan pop stars who stir up emotions ranging from pride to rage and death threats in today's Afghanistan.  Presented at the Human Rights Watch International Film Festival, and now playing at New York City's Cinema Village. 

June 17, 2009 - New York, New York - Members attended a discussion panel at the New York Society for Ethical Culture entitled "Afghanistan & Pakistan: Why Are We There?to represent the real "we" in the "why are we there?"  The Q&A was cut short, but we discussed the realities of our experience with panelists and audience members after the event.  Gretchen Peters spoke powerfully about her on-the-ground experience and her resulting book "Seeds of Terror."  View her very smart blog here.

May 7, 2009 - New York, New York - We held the first ever Veterans for Afghanistan Meet & Greet Social in New York City on Thursday, May 7, 2009.  A great success!   

April 18, 2009 - Cincinnati, Ohio - Veterans for Afghanistan Founder Kristen L. Rouse was Guest Speaker at An Evening of Sheltering Song, a benefit concert organized by the Cincinnati Friends Meeting to raise money toward building an orphanage in Kabul through CharityHelp International and the Afghan Child Education & Care Organization (AFCECO).  Take a look at the "Partners" link for more information!
